Vikings shits all over Spartacus Spartacus was a porno with slow-mo. Horrible. I enjoy Vikings and can appreciate it, I just don't relate it to GoT. Anyone ever watched The Wire in full? had a argument with my friend as to which is better. Breaking Bad or The Wire.

At the moment HBO's Boardwalk Empire and Game of Thrones are my fav shows. In my opinion Game of Thrones is the best show ever so far. Some of the scenes are unbelievable, as good as anything I've ever seen on tv. Daenerys Targaryen
Homeland is pretty good, if you don't watch it already. Also, 24: Live another day will be premiering on Fox on May 5.

I'm surprised by how popular GOT is on here. I watched the first two and a half seasons and I felt like it was just violence and sex wrapped up in fantasy for teenagers. The characters and story really did draw me in though.

'Best TV show' is a toss up between The Wire and Treme imo. Treme dissects New Orleans and its culture so well.
GoT is pulpy smut, but it's for adults not teenagers (the teens equivalent is True Blood lol)One should either be a work of art, or wear a work of art ― Oscar Wilde

SuE - completely agree. But i'd plump for The Wire. GoT is trash imo.
House of Cards kept me very entertained for a while. Certainly worth a look.
One thing I look for in a series is scope that is bigger than a film could ever offer, not a series of cliffhangers and twists (a problem that Homeland quickly ran into) but an overall piece that is more than the sum of its parts. The Wire certainly managed this. Soprano's too to a lesser degree. Generally very few shows achieve this and I am disappointed by most. True Detective was a massive disappointment and I agree wholeheartedly with this review - http://www.newyorker.com/arts/critic...urrentPage=all

I like GoT as I like some other quality entertainment that lets me turn down (not off, a bit distinction) my brain and satisfy me aesthetically. I like fairy tales with philosophical underpinnings - here the main one being that in politics everyone will do foul things and die sooner or later.
House of Cards quickly deteriorated at the end of season 1 and then some. A senator committing multiple murders - give me a fucking break (talk about a fairy tale, lol).Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months - Oscar Wilde

Having said that, I also felt that True Detective lost steam in the last few episodes. Started out incredibly well though.Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months - Oscar Wilde

The artist does not owe you anything, everything he/she owes is to his/her work, and if the story line demands an obedient housewife, a young black drug dealer, or a money-grubbing Jew, than that's what should be done without any pandering to various interest groups.
