it better happen. i've been listening to tracks from the future for the last few weeks. i would argue that his finest songwriting can be found on this album although i'd rank joan of arc and famous blue raincoat high among the best songs or popular compositions ever written. also been listening to roger waters' pros and cons of hitchhiking and amused to death on heavy rotation. the former took about 15 years to grow on me but now i'm convinced it's right at the top of everything he's done; much better than most of pink floyd.

another great video from "GRATEFUL CHILD".TAKEN FROM "AMUSED TO DEATH" the best pink floyd album they didn't make, and the best roger waters album ever

Agreed about that Roger Waters album. And Famous Blue Raincoat is some amazing poetry.

"Show me how you do that trick
The one that makes me scream" she said
"The one that makes me laugh" she said
And threw her arms around my neck
"Show me how you do it
And I promise you I promise that
              I'll run away with you
              I'll run away with you"

              Spinning on that dizzy edge
I kissed her face and kissed her head
And dreamed of all the different ways I had
              To make her glow
"Why are you so far away?" she said
"Why won't you ever know that I'm in love with you
That I'm in love with you"

              You
              Soft and only
              You
              Lost and lonely
              You
              Strange as angels
              Dancing in the deepest oceans
              Twisting in the water
              You're just like a dream

              Daylight licked me into shape
I must have been asleep for days
And moving lips to breathe her name
              I opened up my eyes
              And found myself alone alone
              Alone above a raging sea
That stole the only girl I loved
And drowned her deep inside of me

              You
              Soft and only
              You
              Lost and lonely
              You
              Just like heaven

I'll give you that it might be better than most pink floyd, but I really don't think he ever topped his work on Animals (alone or with floyd)

I'm really glad the conversation has gone this way. it's got me digging up records I haven't listened to in years (and wondering why), among them

which rules even harder than ever before.

it's songs like "skulls" which remind me why the harder folk like the misfits so much

                  The corpses all hang
                  Headless and limp
                  Bodies with no surprises
Blood drains down like devils rain
                  We'll bathe tonight

                  I want your skulls
                  I need your skulls
                  I want your skulls
                  I need your skulls

Demon I am and face I peel
See skin turned inside out, 'cause
Gotta have you on my wall
Gotta have you on my wall, 'cause

                  I want your skulls
                  I need your skulls
                  I want your skulls
                  I need your skulls

Collect the heads of little girls and
                  Put 'em on my wall
Hack the heads off little girls and
                  Put 'em on my wall

                  I want your skulls
                  I need your skulls
                  I want your skulls

cool. obscurity knocks is my favorite song from my High School years.
I've been on a nostalgia trip for awhile now. still have the cake album in heavy rotation.
