I played descent all the time when I was a kid.

I'm having a weird nostalgic techno-metal relapse and listening to the soundtrack a lot. It's actually pretty great.

Excuse the stereotypical indie-douche cover, it really is a fantastic record. Sounds almost as if Jandek had some technical guitar ability....

The Castanets are one of the few New Weird America bands that survived my eventual tiring of the genre. I think Cathedral is a great album as well.

                      ^ Hear, Hear!

His raw "kling-klang" sound is fantastic here, and
then he just ends it off with ...

Well there's one thing you can't lose
                      It's that feel ...

                          Nick Cave... Weeping Song

Go son, go down to the water
And see the women weeping there
Then go up into the mountains
The men, they are weeping too

Father, why are all the women weeping?
They are weeping for their men
Then why are all the men there weeping?
They are weeping back at them

                          This is a weeping song
A song in which to weep
While all the men and women sleep
                          This is a weeping song
But I won't be weeping long

Father, why are all the children weeping?
                          They are merely crying son
O, are they merely crying, father?
Yes, true weeping is yet to come

                          This is a weeping song
A song in which to weep
While all the little children sleep
                          This is a weeping song
But I won't be weeping long

O father tell me, are you weeping?
Your face seems wet to touch
O then I'm so sorry, father
I never thought I hurt you so much

                          This is a weeping song
A song in which to weep
While we rock ourselves to sleep
                          This is a weeping song
But I won't be weeping long
No I won't be weeping long
No I won't be weeping long

haha, well i like everything about it except for the cover.

Still I've learned to be cautious with music here on SZ. I went from being the resident music snob/expert to being surrounded by bands and genres I've never heard of.... it is nice to feel like a neophyte again though.
