i was generally bored of our christmas music with the exception of Where Will You Be on Christmas Day, a collection of American Roots music, blues, and early folk. Really spooky fantastic stuff. It got on my wife's nerves when I played the CD---until she heard a song that Joanna Newsom had covered, a Buell Kazee song (not sure if he wrote it or if it is in PD) called Lady Gay. I just love Buell Kazee anyway.
The Low chrismas album, the Sufjan Stevens Xmas box, and a couple John Fahey christmas records stay fresh.
Don't think I ever need to hear the Beach Boys Christmas, Phil Spector's A Gift for You (or whatever) or the James Brown Xmas ever again.
I can't get enough of Mission Of Burma's The Obliterati recently. So good. Middle-aged songwriting geniuses that took a 25 year break and never missed a step. If VS was punk, then I don't really know how to categorize this album.
Listening a lot to Shellac's Terraform lately as well. Somehow I feel it suits this freak weather we've had in Vancouver lately.

My friend (and musical guru) just gave me several albums by Psych, a Japanese metal band I'd never heard of. It's very interesting on first listen, seems well suited for Southern Lord fans. Anyone else familiar with these guys?
