anyway, very good band, reminds me of an
    early mbv eps.

i've been listening to a new hototogitsu, i mean
it's from last year, and for me "green" is still their
    best thing so far...

and one of the highlights during last weeks has been
wavves imho, he plays next month in vienna, so will
check it on live, but his album is superb, pretty sunny
melodies. a bit like pumice, but more poppy in a way.

you thought "green" was the best? i've felt as though that hototogisu dropped off after the 3xlp on dejstil.
Did you get and like the larger dick?

actually don't have that 3LP album, so can't compare,
but i've had almost all the others, and "green" for me
is the most "concrete", powerful but at the same time
totally melancholic, with some hidden melodies here
        and there.

btw, have you guys heard the new project by
birchville cat motel called our love will destroy the
world? it seems like noisy/ drone inspired version
of hip hop, very fresh imho. there is only 7inch
as far as i know yet.

you know, i have no idea, and i can't find anything about them online. i think the laurels that other guy was comparing to mbv is a totally different band. the laurels definitely sounded like they were from providence, but with a serious pixies jones, albeit darker and noisier. i saw bossman a few times, they were fun live, but those recordings never did it for me...their myspace reminded me of that.

various things in my life are making me re-address the mid to late 90's providence scene.

re: new 6fs. meh, not really. it's 6fs, so that means it's better than most of the crap that's out there right now...but it's also missing my two favorite parts of that band, which were john maclean and james apt...especially james apt. that dude was one serious bass player, for sure. big influence on me at the time. i still listen to severe exposure on a regular basis and it holds up real well.

i sound like the 30 yr old i am, but man, what the fuck is wrong with kids these days? music was so much better back when we were teens. and the kids know it too...case in point...there were more 17 yr olds at the portraits of past reunion shows than there were 30+.

wasn't aware of the bossman connection, kudos...
kind of wondered where all those people disappeared off to.. the only laurels stuff left in my digital pile of rubbish are off of providence comps mostly.

& whats the verdict on new sixfinger? worth the effort & bandwidth at least?
