Love Billie Holiday, My wife introduced me to Her and Nina Simone & Cesaria Evora about 15 years ago and I still get goosebumps every single time I hear them
Right now listening to COCOROSIE Tekno Love song
I fell in love with a bad bad man
Every since i met him
I've been sad sad sad
I'm a jailbird to your music
A criminal in your prayer
I watch you when you sleep
Even when you're not there
i concur...i mean, c'mon this is the state of the underground?

the release of 2008. think i might've exorcised a few demons listening to it. haha. or maybe just the rats up in the attic. scurry ya furry fucks, scurry :)
in general not as good as the first album (though musically the Carnival of Souls soundtrack is a better reference point), but U.F.D.E.M. is one of the best things I've ever heard.
first - i don't want to imply that listening to blank dogs is lame by any means...there's nothign worse than being judged by what bands you like. i'm not 15, i pulled my head out of my ass a long time ago. i think it's absolutely great that you are so excited by them...and maybe merz and i are reacting to the fact that there isn't anything that gets us as excited as the stuff that was around when we were 16...and i don't think it's just because we're older, i think it has a lot to do w/ the current state of music. basically, i'm a little jealous that you can still get that excited about this stuff. i've become that jaded 30 yr old asshole i used to see at shows and i don't like that.
i'm usually the first person to praise sincerity over originality - but in this case, blank dogs just don't do it. he's pushing my buttons for sure - he's got the recording aesthetic and sound down, but really, all it makes me want to do is listen to the bands that influenced him. i have a similar reaction to jack rose...he's doing it right, but really, i'd rather just listen to fahey.
blank dogs are definitely not offensive - and i'd rather see him get huge than be forced to keep reading about deerhunter. it's just kind of, i dunno...
