Oh man - I used to really dig Behead the Prophet. I remember seeing them with Rye Coalition at some squatter venue in Baltimore, and during the load out, the violinist walked into my face with a cinderblock. Really.
I was sitting down, and fortunately the block only caught my glasses and knocked them off my face. So whenever I heard BTPNLSL, that's what comes to mind.

funny you bring up behead the prophet. i was talking about them with a friend at the sex vid show cuz the new guitarist in sex vid was one of the guitarists in behead the prophet. i once saw lords of lightspeed with josh plague singing which was dope.

So I'm really digging the new Xasthur. Yeah, the instrumentation is kind of primitive but it works for me.

Full disclosure - I'm not sure if it's a departure or not from his earlier stuff cuz I'm really only familiar with the shit he did for Sunn 0))). I know some of you had complained about the fidelity and such but it sounds good on this record.

I feel like "atmospheric black metal" is often a misnomer but it seems very appropriate here,
