The CD has been on replay a lot these days.

Sir Richard Bishop (ex-Sun City Girls)

Saw him in Baltimore on the "Freak of Araby" tour with Oaxacan and Jana Hunter, really incredible show.

doldrums is easily his best, though worn copy is also pretty excellent, and there are def a handful of superior tracks scattered throughout the rest of his output (e.g., every night I die at miyagis) despite the fact that most of it is admittedly forgettable.

while on the subject of AP, it's amazing to me that more people haven't mentioned his work in the context of blank dogs.

I've always been under the impression that ariel pink is 100% earnest, but I hear you nonetheless.

One wonders where it will end, when everything has become gay.

right now I'm listening to T.A.S.K, relaxing time is over. sounds like space music, sort of spooky, yet comforting. I'm also listening to a john cage record and Herman Dune, next year in zion. Haven't got round to buying bite orca by dirty projectors yet, but i wasn't impressed by the single i downloaded.

I don't think it's made it's way to the public yet - it's not due out until Sept. Stoked as heck though, Aluk Todolo's 7" and LP were my favorites of last year...been after them to do a 12" for me...

^^ totally thought it was going to be black metal.

I don't get it - meaning what? Technically, Aluk Todolo are black metal...I suppose. Really, it's just really awesome lo-fi kraut psych with an Aleister Crawley fixation...

Also, you haven't really listened to black metal until you've listened to it while driving through foggy mountain forests in Japan... \m/

^I'd also hesitate to call aluk todolo black metal, though they seem to generally be categorized that way. I think it's more a confusion of aesthetics and pedigree (as in diamatregon, not sonic influence) than anything else.

according to their myspace/utech finsternis is out now, but no one seems to have heard it yet?

on the tangentially bm tip, I gave a cursory listen to the new drudkh and found it pretty underwhelming. wouldn't be surprised if it grows on me though. took a good couple of months before estrangement had me convinced, and now it's damn near my favorite of their albums.

been revisiting a lot of goblin and satellite projects of late. in particular wondering how I missed out on

                                for so long.
