I also really like BJM
But if you liked the rock songs on the first album (like whatever happened or spread your love), i recommend you the album "Love the virgins" from the band Gliss, who's exactly in the same style (even kinda rip-off, but they have some good riffs, so... ).

For people into Japanese psychedelic stuff, there is a great younger band playing called Sundays&Cybele (シーベルの日曜日 -- named after the movie). I was actually in contact with them probably four or five years ago when they sent me some demo CD-Rs but I had kind of forgotten about them until the past year or so when they have been playing quite a lot around Tokyo, apparently after relocating.
Heavy, heavy Hadaka no Rallizes influence but doing the sound justice. Even people who had seen Rallizes in the 70s and 80s have recommended that I see Cyblle. I finally saw them live tonight and they were really great.
Kawaguchi Masami New Rock Syndicate also played, which is always a blast, as well..

good choice. us maple is ace. did you ever see singer?
edit: man, bride of no no. i bought one of their records a long time ago and played it once. lulz.
i'm reliving my hxc days in boston. not many people knew of this band outside of boston during the early 2000's, but they were very sick live. if i remember correctly, the bassist of the band split my lip open with the stock of his bass at this show.
Did you get and like the larger dick?

Yeah - people either loved or hated US maple. It's funny - after Gira produced their 3rd LP they got real big in NYC for a little bit. And yeah, I saw Singer - people hated them and I loved it. Rob and Ben are good friends of mine...they recently moved here from chi-town.
I couldn't ever get down with Bride of No No, but I fucking LOVED the scissor girls and adored Lake of Dracula. Lake of Dracula still holds up damn well.
this used to fucking kill me - one of the best "now wave" songs. heck one of the best "no wave" songs. This was a staple in my days as house DJ at Brownies way back when in 1999-2001. I always used to spin this and Malaria's "your turn to run". Good times, good times.
I have this video comp of all the Now Wave bands playing...including some rare footage of Jaks. I should digitize it, cus I can't find the Jaks clip on line...but they're a hard band to find on youtube...
Originally posted by corsair sanglot^ yes! i love how polarizing they were, even among people generally hip to that sort of thing. oh god.. now i'm thinking about stuff like bride of no no and lake of dracula.. wonder if it holds up at all.
