You might be right. Techno started as a masked, anonymous possibility of an underground movement centered solely around the music. Many ravers dream back to the late 80's, early 90's: this techno idiom was perverted in self-driven personalization cults like Richie Hawtin's (Plastikman), Richard D. James's (Aphex Twin), also Alexander Wilke-Steinhof's (Alec Empire).

Empire is the least talented of the above, I'm neither a fan of his work. But I happen to be an electrohead in wanting for a passage to the track (Top End Killer) you linked. I have such a hard time with lyrics. I prefer shouts, like these.

Swedish hype around Steso Song's Now It's Dark. The artist claims inspiration from Blue Velvet. I can't find any of the film's somber, dangerous, funny mood in her music.

The "inspiration" they're claiming is actually a famous line from the movie, when Dennis Hopper blows out the candles and says "Now it's dark". Classic.
