^ I don't mind the sax so much to be honest. Although I wasn't actually alive during the '80s so I guess I don't get the sense of cheese as strong

I'm tired of well educated musicians being so surprised I actually listen to his music "what, you mean the 4'33" guy with those blenders and radios?"
I'm very far from being a well educated musician, but up till now that's exactly what I thought of him. Thanks for changing my mind, this is incredible

This is what I'm listening to atm (and almost every day)

I am also in love with this man and his work

although my favourite pieces are not on here. Medeamaterial is something everyone should listent to. It is a magnificently haunting piece of music, and the text by Heiner Müller is to die for, obviously

Hehe, glad to change one mind! I'm working towards a PhD in composition at the moment and just had to vent some of my frustration at how conservative people in academia are. What's really disappointing is other students are often more conservative than professors.

That's very cool! So are you familiar with the operas of Pascal Dusapin? If so, what's your opinion? If not, you HAVE to check him out, it's really beautiful in my opinion (although as I've stated, my opinion is in now way grounded in any kind of in-depth knowledge: it's just personal taste)

revisting some julius eastman lately. eastman's a little known but great composer from the 60s/70s new york scene. he studied under feldman and was an early member of the s.e.m. ensemble. amazing stuff.
