I fear I may be alone here in listening to Lupe Fiasco. I must admit I was rather disappointed with 'Lasers', you could tell it had been held back for two years (I believe production actually started back in 2008!). A lot of the songs would have been bangers a few years ago but the scene has moved on since and become over-saturated with that type of synth production. It feels like the album was a compromise for the label.

This track produced by Ishi would have probably been received better had it come out when it was actually made, because it would have been before Tinie Tempah blew up with his Ishi tracks and that Eric Turner collabo. It was nice to see Sway back in action though. Unfortunately is a bit too Euro.

I wish there were more tracks like 'Words I Never Said', because I think Lupe is better when he goes for serious topics and darker material. Plus I do wonder where the likes of 'Shining Down' and 'Go To Sleep' went - had the album included those and similar tracks it would have been ten times better than 'The Cool'. Heck the 'Enemy of the State' mixtape was lyrically more impressive than the radio safe tracks from 'Lasers'. Hopefully the next album will be back to form...and the less said about the whole Japanese Cartoon project and his faux English accent the better

/\ I love Assuck! Would you happen to be into the Bremen hardcore scene by any chance (seeing that you're German)?

Since I am from hamburg I was more into the hamburg scene. Lebensreform, Linsay, Kindle, Loxiran and that kinda stuff back in the mid to late nineties.
But the whole northern germany scene was very close back then.
So yes I saw them all at Grüne Strasse in Bremen. Assück, Mörser, Acme, Minion, Locust etc. etc.

Oh man, Acme.... That 7" was awesome, so far ahead of its time. I think I have all their records. The band after they split up Systral, is crazy too. Oh and Luzifers Mob! So yeah, I have to find the mp3s...

Most of the Bremen bands were way ahead of their time back then.
Systral, Acme, Mörser to name just a few, also Acheborn (even though not being from Bremen) were great.
