the fact that they're taking the time to reintroduce their influences on the new record is pretty impressive. most people will write it off but from a purist or technical aspect it's spot on. do your homework kids...

oh and btw, the new threads that Hedi has designed for them made me think twice about his current state at YSL... absolutely beautiful

i don't get what you are trying to say here.

          1. how is it "impressive" that they "take the time" to "reintroduce" their influences? those influences are neither unusual nor unexpected...

          2. how is it "spot on" "from a purist or technical perspective"? what does this even mean?

          3. what exactly is the "homework" that should be done? this seems to imply that you have any idea how much i know about music. which i am pretty sure you don't.

and i cannot see how any of this excuses the bloated, sycophantic, over-produced mainstream pr-stunt that they have just released disguised as club music.

no matter what you say, it is evident that any lean hunger which they once had, was lost a long, long time ago...

My response was more geared towards those who are completely writing off the new album. I like the particular session musicians they hired for the record, it has more of a 70s "steely dan" boogie vibe than just a full on electronic house record which I like. It's a slow burn, I'll give it that, but granted since I'm a little bit of a gear head I love the particular recording process that they approached on this one (using anologue synths, recording on tapes, jamming live in the studio etc. etc.)

And by no means am I writing off your musical knowledge, nor should you mine...

I'm getting sick of recent obtrusive promotion of those two french knob twiddlers.
Shucks, you could as well argue with David Guetta's fans, as he belongs in the same pantheon of gods of shit music as Daft Punk.. So let's stick to 6th of Daniel Dennett's tools for thinking and carry on.

Oi, the older Daft Punk records are one of the best records mainstream dance music ever saw.

                    Thumbs up for Unsane.

                    New Rrose is great

(old stuff, new ain't on YT yet)

And while on the topic of techno and industrialism

Btw. new Disclosure is really good also. It's really promising taking into consideration how young they are. There are some straight vinyl bangers there, and there is so much good 100% Silk vibe going on there I can't belive it's mainstream.

                      .
Time for my annual posting of this little love song.

Someone finally posted a better quality recording than the one that's been up for years.
Unfortunately, they did it with this footage.

Well, whatever. Dudes'll appreciate it.. gratuitous violence, naked girls & all.

I want this footage projected across my kitchen wall.
But that would be silly. Make it the bathroom.
