Shucks - Talking about Perc Trax, Perc was amazing live. I wouldn't dare go see him sober though, the bass was killing my body. And as for Aoki, yeah, it's definitely warm and fuzzy. But I kind of prefer warm and fuzzy to raw in the summer ;)

And on the topic of raw:


Jesus, I absolutely love what she did with the snares here. Not only are they properly banging they got that "industrial war drum" sound to them that I love.

Oh, and this record is also a proper summer weapon. Definitely would pack my set with few tracks from here if I would be to play a DJ set on a beach or something like that.

never grow old is a bit too heavy on the vox for me (never was one for gospel or uplifting vocals), but i like the wobbly chicago house-style sound (pretty much the only one heard apart from the piano, at the very end of the track...) hood has thrown in there.

b-side of p. temple is pretty rad too - time-stretched and drum'n'bass-y:

Ah, I'm big on uplifting vocals actually (hence my understated love of soul and singers like Andreya Triana (<3333333)). The whole CD is pretty interesting in terms of sounds and how his minimal side overlaps with the tropical/house'y inspirations that led to Floorplan.

As for Paula, yup, the whole release is really good. R&S is still around, I'm hoping they will get back to former glory.
