They had a good run. I was listening to one of the newer Radiohead albums and felt bummed because it wasn't all that either. I'm just glad Nirvana isn't around to keep up albums or my childhood would've been a lot different.

I used to listen to this in my room when I was a teenager
(along with everything else The Cure ever put out, for that matter)
and every time I did, my dad, in his thick Slavic accent, would ask the same question:

Why does this man have a hot potato in his mouth?

          Aaw.

Much more recently, someone online made a comment summing up their pre-pop stuff, perfectly:

"I love it when the Cure are being all decadent and gloomy.
It's fabulous for us sinners who feel guilt but like to be naughty anyway."

              inspired by interest1's contribution

i've never been bothered by the cure's pop side. they're the exception that makes my rule !

also...the quality of the video above is painfully good.

the pop stuff is really good, buuuuuut, I always tend to gravitate more to the grainier post punk cure...

Keiji Haino, Oren Ambarchi, and Stephen O'Malley..... talk about an all star lineup
"He described this initial impetus as like discovering that they both were looking at the same intriguing specific tropical fish, with attempts to understand it leading to a huge ferocious formalism he characterizes as a shark that leapt out of the tank."
