"Vortex" is the lead single from John Carpenter's debut album. Yes, that John Carpenter, as in the film legend who's left an indelible mark on cinema with both his directing, and score composing, on classic films like the Halloween series, They Live, Big Trouble In Little China, and on. "Vortex"'s dramatic synth and slinky electric guitar fits the bill beautifully -- you can imagine a twisted chase scene rendered at a deliberate pace and featuring at least one sinister human very easily if you press play on that Soundcloud and close your eyes.
Lost Themes is due February 13th via Sacred Bones, the label that brought you Zola Jesus, all of which makes good sense.

Shamir Bailey is young, from Las Vegas, and something of a house-music prodigy. He shifted from Brooklyn's Godmode Records to the venerable indie XL, and his first single for his new label, "On The Regular," comes with buoyant house bounce, downtown cowbell, and one of the year's most charismatic videos. This kid is it.

Since you posted a couple of Savages tracks, Anton -- great choice at that, they are the leading hope for fervent, clear-eyed, intense post-punk -- figured you'd be interested to know that the band has made its 37-minute single-track collaborative album with Japanese psych-rockers Bo Ningen available to stream. It's called Words To The Blind.
Here's an excerpt:

The full collection is streaming here, with an interview:

And before all of this came Bo Ningen and Savages' collaboration on the Bo Ningen track "CC." It has a video with Jenny in it, too:

Kurta, thank you for your contributions. It would be nice if everyone posted at least a few words about the tracks and not just youtube links. This way people could gauge faster if a track is worth listening to.Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months - Oscar Wilde
