The intro with those orbs was awesome. I couldn't figure out exactly what was going on. I noticed that the sound was never consistently controlled by position (relative to each other or anything else), velocity, or acceleration. Or at least, those parameters never seemed to be directly one to one mapped to any audio parameters. Which would seem strange if one were to use something like that as an instrument (because then how does one 'play' it? Like one can say a theremin). Of course it is the Boredoms so perhaps controlled chaos was more the desired result (which is what it sounded like). Eye's movements, vocals, and indeed the sound generated, gave the impression of trying to tame something wild and primordial.

What was really cool was that when the sound got really loud and intense, the orbs flickered. I thought maybe he had a trigger on them, but then when he placed them on the ground when he was done they continued to flicker as they generated noise. You could say that it was all pre-recorded, but the sound to closely matched his movements to be choreographed.

The best I could say was that they were a couple of controllers that are most likely based on acceleration (like the controllers for your WII), or based on proximity to each other (or some combination thereof). What they controlled was probably multiple things (oscillators, noise generators, filters, etc) that changed with time.</p>
