Grails (no "the") has quickly become one of my favorite bands... based on the strength of one album, "Black Tar Prophecies".... which easily hits somewhere in the upper regions of my top 10 ever. It's a completely awe-inspiring album from start to finish. Basically perfect.

Burning Off Impurities is good, but nowhere near as good as Black Tar imho.... BTP is the one to get if you haven't heard it already.

Kira, music hall website says sold out. Ticketmaster can't find any tickets for the show either. Have you had any luck (if yes, buy me one!)?

So... anyone know how to get into a show at Music Hall of Williamsburg?? I was dumb and missed about 4 shows of theirs in LA when I lived there.

Re: What are you listening to?

i suggest going to the venue and getting a ticket from someone selling it. i'm pretty certain that there will be some people who have extra tickets willing to unload them for under face value.

                        check craigslist too

Yeah, I actually started listening to them based on your recommendation. I know this goesway back, but after you pointed out how good Sufjan Stevens- Seven Swans was and how the rest of his albumspaled comparison (something which I completely agree with),I knew that I would probablylikeGrails even before listening to them. I haven't listened to Black Tar yet, though. I'll download it tonight on emusic.

Everyone lauds the first one, but I think the second one is a sonic masterpiece. I read somewhere that the entire thing (except for an orchestra section recorded to a DAT tape) was done in the analog domain. Not sure how this could have been accomplished, so I don't know how true this is.
