    yeah, larger fan of eastern literature then western. but read both.</P>


    9th time reading a book, intense man, i can hardly repeat a book let alone read it that much. persistence! haha</P>

      Meh, it's a real pleasure to read, especially in the office, hehe.</p>

      Started Austerlitz by Sebald - it begins in Antwerp. [Y] It also reminded me that I've meant to read Jean Amery's At the Mind's Limits for a while (I've only read excerpts).

                hmm, I think celine's french is as conducive to translation as any. the standard manheim translation of journey to the end of night is perfectly passable and, if not 100% faithful, still a phenomenal text in its own right.

                  The later novels are well worth reading too. My personal favorite is his last, Rigadoon, which is haunting and eerily prophetic. The best place to start is probably Death on the Installment Plan, a prequel to Journey that's far more ribald and entertaining than its predecessor.

                          yes; awesomely bleak story, but it ruined my day.
                          </p>i think this book should be read in a dank basement for full effect.

                                I can send you an English one - it's a very hard book to read though. She's almost forgotten outside the German speaking world, so I am not surprised you are having trouble finding it in Russian.
