Dito. It´s a nice change from working on the computer all day.

My gal and I are in the process of throwing out everything we don´t need and while this may not be the typical home-improvement work, it is a big relief to see unneeded things go.

Apart from the mechanical monstrosities you refer to (most of them with electrical height adjustment and the business-office standards, like hidden cable routing et cetera), there are a few shelving systems that allow to include a standing desk.

If you prefer a free-standing solution, maybe there’s something here?

Architonic is a great ressource, but actually finding distributors or webshops who stock the items is always a pain.

Funny you posted that. I am using the smaller version now, but that zipper takes just a second too long ;-) Need a box with a lid.

A box might be much more simpler than a kitchen floor to make yourself no? Otherwise take a cigarbox/teabox and paint it black, much easier to paint than tiles I imagine.

Ilona Van Den Bergh's Ona line might be worth checking out. But for larger trays and bowls these look kind of nice.
