Re: Furniture, furnishings, and interior design

Wow, that prouve light is amazing looking.

I'm due to be getting a wall light soon, for fixing over a low sofa (Wegner) as a reading light - choice is wallmounted bestite in black or anglepoise in polished chrome. Any views?

Which wallmounted bestlite (I like BL5 and BL10)? Not sure about anglepoise, is this the one you are looking at (in chrome)? I like the utilitarian quality of the anglepoise, but not a big fan of the spring arms, kinda depends on the room and sofa (as faust mentioned, I think?)

Becoming - yes, the Prouve is much more delicate, he did many versions of the wall light in different lengths, sizes and treatments, some with weathered paint (looking vaguely nautical). Unfortunately, I think the only version now being produced is the image I posted (great and dramatic, but requires a big, high-ceiling room to pull off).

^That's a shame, but indeed you're right, it will somewhat loose it's dramatic sensation,
          with a low ceiling ...

^Agreed! The Anglepoise, even though a nice lamp, has to much of a desk lamp feel to it,
                      in my opinion ...

Johnny, are you just going to let the wires hang, or are you hiring someone to wire through the walls? In wall lighting is hard, I've never even bothered in my rented apartment.

Thanks for taking the time to consider chaps. I agree on the bestlite. Faust I'm actually going to get the wiring done into the wall which will be a pain since I'll have to get the plaster tapped out, but it will look better I think. Never done wall lights for exactly this reason before, but going for it this time.

xadam I like the tolomeo small wall mounted spot (and actually may consider this now) but not the levered arm wall mounts.
