I prefer indirect as well, we have an Aton Terra in our living room and with a 200W energy saver halogen it lights up the entire room nicely.

lamps are so hard
I kind of like this one. It's fairly minimal and soft so it probably won't stand out... if you have white walls. hah.
this noguchi one is cool too but it might look too modern if that's what you're avoiding.
i dont know why i keep picking paper ones.
I have the Akari egg one and it emits a nice warm light.
How about the Castiglioni Arco lamp?

Any ideas for Shoe/Boot storage? My shoe collection has outgrown the waredrobe space allocated to me by my girlfriend (!!) so I am looking at alternates - I would be particularly interested in something that doesn't have to be tucked away in a waredrobe, but allows the shoes to be on display.

I've been looking quite a lot on modern scandinavian furnish the last weeks, and there's this new danish label Hay that wants to go back to the glory days of danish design, with Poul Kjaerholm and all those other great guys.
here's some of my favourite pieces from them.
Loop Stand Clothingrack
Loop Stand dining table
Metro stool (designed to look like subway station maps)
Plopp stool
Cano shelves
Hee lounge chair
Ray lounge chair

I have to say that the only piece I like is the last chair, rest is a bit too wannabe retro modern for me"AVANT GUARDE HIGHEST FASHION.
