I'm looking for a lamp, preferably table top, but will consider floor standing or pendant to illuminate a table which is 2000x800mm. It needs to be fairly warm (approximately 2800K) and simple, and nothing too futuristic.

I was initially just going to hang a T5 over the table but i would prefer to keep it as a table lamp so I can avoid cable running to the ceiling.

I really like the Orsjo sweeplight, but there is no distributor in Australia.

I've check around some swedish stores for the sweeplight, and finally found it in a store in the outskirts of Stockholm - the retail price is almost €590.

They can send international, but I guess it'll be one pricey lamp.

The mint leather does give it a dentist quality, yes. I was told it was by a designer in the 60s or 70s, and the tag says "Made by Hjellegjerde Mobler AS 6230 Sykkylven Norway". A quick google search led me to the Hjellegjerde site, but the closest I could find is the Admiral chair.

The shape of the wooden base of the model that I've found is not available – perhaps it is not offered anymore. In any case, it was quite cheap, so I've gone ahead and picked it up, and will be reupholstering it in something more tasteful. Steel grey, perhaps. The laminated wood is quite well done as on most mid-century modern pieces, and the reclining mechanism is quite elegant, being a continually adjustable piston so that there are no fixed points to stop at. All in all, a very comfortable chair that I will be quite happy with once that green is gone.
