    Broken Flowers

was the first movie by jim jarmusch i've seen so far and i'm quite impressed. especially the minimalistic dialogues (well, most of the time it's nonverbal communication) are great and bill murray seems like the perfect cast for this antiquated don juan searching for the relics of his past.

the soundtrack by mulatu astatke is also fantastic:

A Colt Is My Passport (Koruto wa ore no pasupoto, 1967)

Loved it. Dripping with style; Jo Shishido is the epitome of cool. Great photography, killer soundtrack, epic finale. Story might not be very intriguing (man caught between rival gangs) but the execution is flawless. Extremely enjoyable.

About to go see "Idi i smotri" in a theatre. I've never seen it before

I am ready to be traumatised

Edit: so I wans't traumatized, I think I hiped myself up too much for it. It's still one of the best war movies I've ever seen despide the obvious propaganda aspect. Not on the same level as Ivan's Childhood, but close. The kid actor is simply insane, and I still can'tunderstand how Klimov did some of those things: the makeup and cinematography are just out of this world...
Strongly strongly strongly recomended, even though it's definately not for the faint of heart

I think mass mentioned watching Zigeunerweisen recently - the trilogy is currently 'gold' this week at Asian DVD Club which means it doesn't effect your ratio on the site at all. Which is important since it's about 20 GB.

Everything is Illuminated. Beautiful film, so human.

Agreed. Great film. Speaking of Eugene Hütz; the Gogol Bordello documentary is well worth watching.

I thought it's out tomorrow? His rise to stardom makes me feel good, I must say.

^Which one? Non-Stop released quite awhile back. The Pied Piper of Hutzovina is also great if you're a fan of GGB.

There were multiple screenings early in the year. I didn't realize it hadn't officially came out.

i just watched inglorius basterds and really enjoyed it. I thought it was focused and really well done. I wasn't sure what to expect but i was pleased with the result.

It seemed to focus entirely on revenge. I suppose that's not a new theme for Tarantino though..
