Definitely not a fan of Aronofsky but will give Black swan a try when it hits theaters. Not a fan of Noe either but I haven't seen Enter the void so I can't hate yet.

Strangely enough, I am in the same boat with relation to these directors and the respective works what is it that makes one keep coming back

Sure, overrated boring pointless drama for adolescents with main characters that appear to be stupid... not even using every editing and camerawork trick in the book could save the thing.

Let's just say I'v seen better, shorter anti-drug propaganda.

I'll come back to my favorite thread when Aronofsky is gone

finally got around to watching Celine and Julie Go Boating. heard so much about it i was expecting something much deeper heading into it, but it turned out to be good fun. the whole movie within a movie thing was probably more interesting in it's day, but there's been so many movies that have explored a similar angle on how the viewer impacts/interacts with the viewing experience that i didn't bother to read anything into it.

reminded me a lot of his recent film Va Savoir though. wish more of his earlier films were available to see though.

also just finished the first season of deadwood and i'm hooked. i'm a sucker for westerns.


edit: and i don't know anything about aranofsky but he always seemed to be shooting for large audiences with his films rather than trying to be defined as a "serious" filmmaker. if so, he's been going in the opposite direction the whole time. seems like he just wants to have fun with his movies and turn mainstream audiences onto something slightly skewed from what they're used to seeing.

Not really a movie person but this decided how I'll be spending the next hour and a half. Can't believe I've never seen this but I've seen Crash...

I don't think I'll ever sit through Crash in its entirety in my lifetime.

Crash I've seen in about 7 sittings on late night TV (Canadian director means he gets plenty of late night airtime). Still not sure which part goes where, don't care - it really doesn't do it for me either.

It's fitting that I was up till 3 am watching Videodrome last night. Liked it. Tried to explain it to my girlfriend this morning. "Sounds stupid." Well, yeah I guess.

I think I'll watch Naked Lunch while I'm working today.

MoFiya yes I liked The Passenger, it's my favorite Jack Nicholson film.

So, I've seen this the last weekend and must say I wasn't really convinced... Expected more, since Blow Up really blew me away (excuse the bad wordplay but I cant think of a substitute word atm).

I just saw Dumplings (Gaau ji) and damn, that thing was tough to watch.
