Started to watch Noe's Enter the Void but had to turn it off at the end of the first act...i can admire the technical innovation but there wasn't much to it beyond that from what I've seen so far and read about the rest of the film. Guess am not in the mood for screensavers right now.
Im generally a fan of his so enjoying it wasnt a question. One of his most haunting and generally uncomfortable films to watch and one i thoroughly enjoyed for that reason. One of his best films visually (flooded with red in an amazing way) and the performances in the film are expectedly perfect
recommend it visually as well as for its content if you've not seen it

Attended a screening of Jem Cohen's "We Have An Anchor" here in Toronto.
Live score was performed in the theatre by Guy Picciotto (Fugazi), T. Griffin, Jim White (Dirty Three), Jessica Moss (Silver Mt. Zion), and Sophie Trudeau (Godspeed You! Black Emperor, SMZ.
Saw The Hunt on Sunday. Worst date night movie of the season but immensely powerful. I wouldn't call it cinematic but Mads Mikkelsen is a great lead. Had lost track of what Vinterberg was doing.
I also saw Life of Pi last night. It's Ang Lee but I was spell bound for 2 hours ( I hadn't read the book ).
Hi. I like your necklace. - It's actually a rape whistle, but the whistle part fell off.
Read the first and, unsurprisingly, lukewarm review of the Hobbit in the New Yorker. They made all the points I expected them to make, particularly that there should've never been three films made out of such a slender book, that dipping into other Tolkien writing is unwelcome, and that the film is therefore unnecessarily drawn out. Hollywood greed strikes again.

Guillermo del Toro never should have bailed on directing the Hobbit. Peter Jackson isn't a particularly good director and after King Kong I just assumed he was going to fill the Hobbit with unnecessary scenes and length as well...
Besides, I'll take del Toro animatronics and makeup over excessive Jackson CGI every time, especially if 48fps is involved.
