Moonrise Kingdom is a charming film and a great reminder of just how boring symmetry can be.
Hi. I like your necklace. - It's actually a rape whistle, but the whistle part fell off.

funny you say that because that's the only part of the movie i somewhat enjoyed. the rest was just a bad pastiche of peckinpah etc. i really wish i could have the three hours back.

I also don't understand the above comment. Tarantinos's dialogues are where it's at. You sound like someone who'd enjoy transformers. Best scene that has ever been put on film.

oh man that scene is epic.

tarantino movies are all about the dialogue, he has done them poorly in a few movies (ie death proof) but pulp fiction and reservoir dogs were hits because of the dialogue. if you are going to see his movies expect it... just my 2c

I was referring more to Death Proof and Inglorious Basterds, wherein i thought the dialogue became a little self-indulgent at times.

I've liked Django, Samsara, Argo, and Zero Dark Thirty of recent movies.

So I was just checking Cannes winners and ran across this with Elijah Wood. What a creepy, dark, sinister role to pick up for a mainstream Hollywood actor. Should be an interesting combo...

Marnie is a terrible film and anyone who says otherwise is a Hitchcock apologist.

Seven Psychopaths, on the other hand, was great. No apolgies there.

I've been searching for Noés Carne for the past week with no luck :'(

Other than that, saw Vertigo - the new "best movie of all time" and didn't like it. Saw Restless by Gus Van Sant which was just too much of a teenie movie.
Looking forward to finally see Kieslowskis Dekalog.

Just finished watching zero dark 30 - one of the 3 best movies of the awards season for sure ( The Hunt and Amour are my other 2 ).
There's an observational detachment which makes it closer to a documentary, there are obvious avenues it could have taken and it didn't and it's better for it. Great film-making.
