Happened upon Natural Born Killers last night. Forgot about how much I enjoy the visuals. The constant film screen in the background. Woody Harrelson is so great. So is Juliette Lewis. Great music pairing.

Watched Julian Schnabel's Basquiat last night, movie had i'm sure what is a biased slant to it, but Wright and Bowie's performances were spot on and it was a nice, revealing insight into how Schnabel viewed his contemporaries.

I watched This is England yesterday. I thought it was pretty good overall, although not convincing at times. Good acting, too.

Watched No Country for Old Men. Average. Disjointed and not believable at times. I've never been a big fan of Coen brothers, and this is no exception.

Meaning that some actions weren't given causes, i.e. how did the maniac know where woody harrelson stayed - or how did woody harrelson find the main character in a Mexican hospital ("in three hours")? or how did the guy simply kept crossing the border back and forth, or how woody harrleson's character simply knew to look over the fence. what was tommy lee jones's role, except facile philosophizing? things like that.

a friend of mine said the same thing about Eastern Promises. continuity and coincidence in the movies is tough, but most of the time i let it go. i mean how believable is the oscar winner?

anyway, another sick episode of lost, they're really starting to reveal it, this season has started off so much better than last...michael as the janitor, shit is too dope. i can't believe there are not more lost fans on here.

One wonders where it will end, when everything has become gay.

faust, i don't know if you will take my interpretation of No Country as somewhat pretentious, but I always thought the movie's central point was not to focus on the plot...but rather using the story to bring up implications about the random nature of human evil/violence and degradation of society as a whole. I think the movie is very relevant for today, which is why I liked it so much. I haven't really bothered much with the Coen's work either, I liked Fargo but none of the other works have really caught my eye enough to spark my interest in watching...

                                *movie spoiler alert*

i think one of my favorite things about the movie, other than the fact it didn't have any official closure, was how they didn't tell the story in a conventional "hollywood" way. I think this is most apparent with the Moss character dying offscreen, rather than showing some climactic showdown between him and Chigurh which might be more satisfying to an average movie goer. I think by doing so, it drives the film's message through so much better...

                                *end movie spoiler*
