my understanding is that the pigs are doped out of their mind during the tattoo process, to wit: they don't feel a thing. I'll give you a documentary on wim delvoye when we meet up. he's one of my favorite artists working today, and a truly brilliant person

Not only that, but those were some of the only pigs in the world that were allowed to live out the full course of their natural lives, as Delvoye pointed out.

One of them lived in the garden of my friendly neighborhood contemporary art museum for a while, back when Delvoye had a show there. The museum staff would rub sunblock on its back every day.
