i'm pretty certain they work with a factory that assembles footwear (and other leather goods) to their specifications. just to make clear there is nothing unusual or inconsistent with their ethos about this.

to me the word "ethos" is shorthand for the popular (in terms of this forum) perception of the brand rather than any mission statement of theirs that i am aware of or otherwise divined. i was speaking generally.

I find the word factory to be a huge blanket term. And even if both use one, I find it hard to believe that LUC and Gucci's situations are even close to being similar.

One company has a higher volume and uses several factories and quality levels, the other one is smaller and certainly uses fewer makers with a more constant "quality" level. However the process by which the garments are produced does not differ significantly.

I am sure you will find that most of the cost difference is in the titanium joints. It has been said that all items can be ordered with or without the joints (not sure how accurate this is).
