can't you realize I am using the word "beauty" in a figurative sense.........
which is to say they are attractive/ appealing in the same way you use the word "interesting".
Also, I don't think they are a trap,..........if you know me and know my purchases, you know I like what I like and only buy what I like regardless of who made it.
They are nothing compared to the finger only gloves, they are a practical, pragmatic shoes you can wear, that so happens to have been dipped in latex which wears away over time...............Last edited by zamb; 02-09-2011, 11:27 AM.“You know,” he says, with a resilient smile, “it is a hard world for poets.”

those shoes are really not good, or beautiful, or even practical (compared to say hiking boots that cost £150). they well fugly. although i can sort of appreciate the materials etc too (fancy clothes used to be called "pieces" which was bad enough; now they are called "works".....), since i did buy a pair once (and then returned them back from whence they came)

i know no one in my immediate family or friends who would spend $1K+ on a pair of shoes/ boots so I don't think we can even argue along those lines............
Some people like them, some don't
I like them because I'm not particularly a sneaker guy, and the single color along with the drip make them interesting enough for me to want to wear.................at a certain point most of what we buy has no real practmatic/ practical considerations cause if thats the case we might as well look for the cheapest/ well made item for whatever need we are seeking to purchase something..........and dont have two of any thing that can serve for the same end use.
The only barrier for me with these is the price tag cause I wouldn't spend the same amount on sneakers (regardless of what they are) as I would on boots....................and as for me, I don't go hiking, so I wouldn't own hiking boots“You know,” he says, with a resilient smile, “it is a hard world for poets.”

Zam, please resize those photos. They are too big. It's very easy to do in imageshack - there is a drop down menu for size adjustment.Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months - Oscar Wilde

So, one of the tension in CCP's work would be between eros and thanatos. And should emphasize that the macabre effect is only a part of the tension, and not it's only end. I really like as well that you see eros as conflict, which is very true imo.
Noticed recently, while some woman was trying CCP female pieces that the invisiseam/chainseam (or any kind of open seam) is as well based on a the tension between continuity and discontinuity. These seams are paradoxical, since they don't hide the gap, they show it. But not in a static, loose - and lazy - way, but in dynamic one, where the movements of the body, the skin and the muscles are involved. And I would say that's why I find the invisiseam more interesting than the chainseam, even though they achieve almost the same effect.
like some designers speak of nature or the universe with their floral designs, he also speaks of it in his own way.
maybe rather than its typically beautiful aspect, its magic,
the mysterious, and sometimes the unfathomable ( "speaking of the hidden by means of the hidden" )...
