Was discussing these with notoriousT.
Turns out they are a custom order in groil from 09.
Looks like a hybrid of 09 shape, laces, and leather/product code, but in newer harsher 'white' colour with greyish staining.
I'd kop the Sufu pair in an instant if they were sz9 (and price was right)you can't polish a turd, but you can roll it in glitter...Comment

The gap is created by a folded piece of metal.. perhaps titanium given the theme. It's not leather as some mentioned before. That would simply collapse. Initially I wasn't feeling it but now I really don't mind. Soon I'll love it.. which is basically my overall thought process on the drip sneaks.Comment

I don't know if the gap is reinforced by metal, but its basically the sole itself making a loop.
