Just judging from the above pic that doesn't seem that bad. The shoes are very different with all different details.
These don't even qualify as a "poor mans version." Maybe more like the assistant to the assistant of the poor man who can't afford the real thing.

CCP high top dips in white and black are really some of the most interesting footwear I have seen.

I have a completely different take on this. It would seam that what both followers of Carol Christian Poell's work and CCP themselves have taken offense to in the past is the blatant theft of his cuts or construction techniques. What's being taken away from Poell's work here is a new means for creating a sole or protective coating on one side of a garments structure, not his designs themselves.

CCP is known for being influential and this is part of his allure. It is in instances like these where we see how he has affected other designers and to some degree the overall course of fashion and the garment industry. These pieces of footwear cannot hold a candle to those produced by CCP and I find it unlikely that they attempt to do so given their price point. But they do help perpetuate the idea of Poell being an originator rather than just an oddity specializing in gimmicks. I am happy to see this, rather than seeing another high end 'artisan' brand attempting to produce something in the same price bracket as CCP with a much greater number of similarities in construction.

The rubber dipping is not what supplies CCP footwear with its definition; if they had produced a shoe identical in construction to the one shown above in kangaroo or horse for the usual price, would anyone here have bought it?
