Yes, I was lucky enough to go the Motel installation today and that was the first thing I noticed. As I entered the space the lights were off and the lights from the passing vehicles were making the suit flash. It was quite a sight.
I am certain that this would not serve any protective purpose if your objective was to hide!

Hate to make it a "where to buy" post, but I've not yet seen the xlight suits/jackets available online anywhere as of yet... would love to see some closeups of the fabric as this is pretty damn awesome. The reflective fabric is made of particles of Swarovski glass crystals that have been directly coated/woven in the fabric and not coated on it, hence it has these amazing reflective properties and the flexibility of a more regular fabric.
When the X-fabric is shining it gives the same effect as a negative, where the bright/dark parts are reversed. Fabric and effect should maybe filed as well under be reversibility theme in CCP's work.
