When Rick released these for the first time they were canvas both on the shell and the lining and were only $1,150. I think the 'new' DRKSHDW version will be around 350 euro.

I recall the canvas versions from the mainline being stupid $$$ (considering), I must have missed the drkshdw's. Somehow, I'm okay with $500 sneakers, but not $1500.

I honestly don't understand the pricing/difference between DRKSHDW and mainline in terms of "basics.". The basics are not too far off in price thoguh I am drwan to the mainline stuff. No graphics for me please...

drkshdw isn't diffusion per say, it's just where rick sticks all the stuff that doesn't quite dovetail with the mainline collection. he still designs it, he puts it on the runway sometimes, and o+m still sews it.

if you go dig up collections from the early 2000s, you'll see a lot of modern day drkshdw and lilies. it keeps mainline moving forward without abandoning the old shiz

The quality is exactly the same as the mainline, only the fabrics are dumbed down a notch. Sometimes I prefer it that way, so it has its place. I too could do without the occasional graphic, but it's hardly prevalent. Also, I like jeans.

I think drkshdw is the best realized diffusion line ever. denim, fleece, tees, all of it makes perfect sense and has no place in the mainline. Much better than selling a bunch of trite crap to make a quick buck.

And to make it more confusing, some drkshdw longsleeves (used to at least) are made in mainline sheer fabrics...
