Durability is good, but so is functionality. When one drops thousands on a pair of shoes, wouldn't it be nice if they were ready to hit the street right out of the box.

On another note, Simone practically creamed in his pants when he got the photos of Mr. Pitt wearing A1923. I know it's what designers do, but still kinda cringe worthy that he posted the pics on instagram, which is usually a steady stream of shoe porn.

You could say that about any footwear discussed here though, leather soles can be equally slippery and are rather impractical in the winter for example.

I felt very much the same when I saw B. Pitt pop up on the Augusta IG. The more I thought about it though, I began to think of him as more of regular guy who really was as excited to see an A list celebrity wearing his work as I would be if I were in that situation. As much as I eat up the mystique surrounding these guys and their work, I find it endearing when some thread of humility and humanity peeks through the elite artisan facade we build up around them. Simone has liked a couple of my IG pics such as the one of destroyed elk zipper pull covers that I sewed onto my rev horse ST3s. I think he is probably a fairly down to earth guy.

Yes, he is. He certainly does not surround himself with any mystery. He just does the work and hopes people like it.

I recently purchased my first pair of A1923 boots and they are currently on the way. I'm extremely excited. I checked out the official instagram and quite frankly unlike many of the other artists he seems like the type of individual one would grab a cup of coffee with and discuss general things. I think I'm in love guys.

Absolutely--Simone and his partner came into Hotoveli, several years ago, when I worked there, just to browse and he asked me about my jeans in an excited way with broken English-which I'm sad to admit, happened to be from H&M, but that's beside the point--he's a very friendly, personable fellow and I quite imagine him not at all above having some pride in celebrities wearing his clothes, from time to time.

Maybe Simone copies other people, but I have to say his designs and offerings evolve EVERY season and imo generally they trend towards better.

It is interesting to see how the sneakers have changed. New tweak looks excellent.

I mean I'm in agreement with you. But I think at some point someone dug up some old school CCP sneakers and claimed a resemblance. Definitely less of a resemblance with how its evolved over the years, but some people like tooting the copy horn so who knows what they think at this point ;p

And not in some sort of like hierarchic sense, but my personal feelings on the brands.

At some point CCP was nicer than a1923 in my mind, then at some point in the last few years parity was achieved. The recent dualzips I've handled and the grey derbies I picked up at the archive though... I feel like a1923 footwear is nicer in terms of leather options, treatment, design character and color options.

This is all subjective, but when comparing current versions of derbies from both I felt the a1923 stuff had more elements for me to appreciate or maybe an added layer of depth which I can't really articulate.

I may be in the minority right now, but with a1923's continued iterating evolution -- I think at some point they will be much nicer in the eyes of more than just me ;p

Not to say that CCP doesn't iterate either. I've seen some new takes on the u-sole and drip versions of boots and stuff, but I dunno if those were up and to the right for me personally in terms of evolution trends ;p

Thinking about buying a second pair of Augusta but unsure if these are legit, there's no debossed logo on the sole which makes me a little worried they're fake. Any input? Seller claims newer models don't have any branding on the sole.
