Seeing some of Junya's pieces from his SS 2012 collection reminded me that the use of elaborated embroidered lace textiles as a means to create dimension is one of the many tropes in which Junya pays respect to the master Rei.

Here the lace is used as the base material rather than as a the typical trim that lace is traditionally used for:
CDG SS 1998 Skirt with Embroidered Panel
CDG SS 1999 Pleated Skirt with Lace Panel and Muslin Panel
CDG is label I think is difficult to understand without looking at the entirety of its corpus.
Does anyone have photo editorials from the 90s? From the CDG Visionaire issue (I should have splurged for it when it came out. Still kicking myself about that...) Please post, and I'll continue with other examples of repeating tropes used in CDG.
