Thank you! That was an enjoyable read. I've always wished that some of the fantastic frilly & embroidered weirdness of Jun's earlier womens' collections made its way to the mens' side.

Man, those are great pictures, really wish I could see it in person.

Yes, and I think there's a sweet spot of overlap between scab/arts and crafts/guru guru era Jun and A Closed Feeling/earlier Soloist era Miyashita. With their more practical and sportier directions, it seems that was just a special, unique time in Japanese fashion.

Perfect! Grading those undergrad papers can wait...
edit: Love reading about Jun and Rei's interactions. His respect for her is immense, I remember reading in a separate interview about how she mentored him through his first Paris show and called a toast for him, and her continuing influence.
I do wish I could learn more about his thought processes for his more bizarre earlier collections, though. Love his description of seeing beauty in the monstrous.

Yeah, there were a few lines that got edited out which alluded to his thought process. Basically, he is like a food processor - culture comes in, gets processed, and at the other end Undercover comes out :-)Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months - Oscar Wilde

Not surprised they swiped it, obviously. While news aggregation is fair game, I really hate the way Shitbeast packages it.Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months - Oscar Wilde
