Reissue only makes sense if the original creator made that decision. Everything else is pure cashing in.

OPENING MARGIELA: It was only a matter of time before Opening Ceremony and Maison Martin Margiela decided to mutually bask in each other’s insidery glow. The downtown New York store, which is in the midst of a year devoted to all things French, has revealed its latest collaboration, a capsule collection of women’s clothes and accessories called MM6 Maison Martin Margiela x Opening Ceremony for fall 2011. Opening Ceremony’s Humberto Leon says he’s been a charter member of MM6 since day one, and is “excited to see these two worlds collide.

It's at Opening Ceremony - it will be a success. They have some extra-strength-hipster-spending magnet attached to the store - works like a charm.Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months - Oscar Wilde

The SEMI COUTURE collection was the first stuff that made me take notice of Margiela (I was living in Seattle at the time and there wasn't a lot of avant garde fashion there). I still love those dress form pieces.THE HOUSE OF DIS

I wandered into the Margiela store in London last week to have a look at the sale.
First off, I was totally confused since the store had moved from where it was on Bruton Place - in an interesting little shop off the main thoroughfare - to a much swankier shop nearby. All the charm had gone.
Inside, the clothes could have been from any time in the last 10 years - in the main, the same old knits, cotton tees, jeans and jackets that are cycled round with tiny tweaks season after season. I was a major fan of Margiela for many years but to still be seeing the same old things is a bit sad!
It seems that without the main man at the helm the 'brand' is content just to rehash itself rather than innovate.
