Did any outstanding pieces come out of his time at Hermes?

Has anyone noticed that "Martin" is slowly being phased out of the brand's name and it's now "Maison Margiela"? I keep seeing it on stores' website.

The fashion house’s stealth approach seems to be a master class in how to rebrand under the radar.

Yes the official website has changed name to just "Maison Margiela" and it looks like all the stores are following suit. I guess it emphasizes that the brand consists of anonymous designers. Though it has been like that for a while so I wonder what caused the change now.

On what planet does John Galliano qualify as an anonymous designer?

I guess it's more to emphasize that Martin Margiela indeed is no longer a part of the brand now that they've hired Galliano.

They changed with the first show of Galliano, I suppose is related.

yoox group huh. the bit in the trailer where the guy turns covering his face with the paper documents he's holding and shaking his head was neat timing wise with the trailer -- but the guy didn't look like he was Martin.

Yes! I stumbled upon this earlier this morning and it was very educational for me. I definitely see how he worked with JPG for 3 years (afaik he also does a lot of deconstructing/reconstructing in his work). There is a good 1 hour documentary on JPG on the ARTE website btw, where he explains a lot of his creations.(it's in french however, no subs)

He has some interesting comments about his intention to drive the create force of the maison through the couture informing RTW, allowing the creativity of others in the house to help them interpret and be inspired in their own discipline. Maybe it's not the anonymity of the designer that the brand needs to uphold but the collaborative nature of their team. If he respects that structure I'm sure we'll see some beautiful creations (and hopefully something refreshing in the menswear shows as well).
