havent checked out the store yet, but i do want to say this......
margiela is one of my favorite designers, rick owens being my favorite, margiela held the top spot for a while...
the reason why he dropped is because almost all of the clothing i have owned from margiela has broken or ripped at the seams or busted up in some way.
margiela in my experience does not actually make a quality, long-lasting garment as much as i would like.

Really? Hmm, all my stuff is holding up really well. I agree that maybe it's not over-the-top amazing quality, but everything has been rock solid for me. Which items have gone bad on you? [/quote]
I second Faust's sentiments. The overall quality of construction may not be as good as some, but I have no complaints when it comes to the durability. I have used line 10, 14 and 22 pretty thoroughly and have yet to experience anything I wouldn't consider normal wear and tear. I personally think that the line 14 quality is a bit higher compared to the line 10 overall. Perhaps it has something to do with his vintage replica/archiving/wardrobe classification and process. (The difference in quality and content of his mainline 1 compared to line 6 is tremendous, it is a different model than the line '10' to '14' relationship). I would have expected the quality across the board to change, at least slightly, for the worse after the diesel group buyout, but i really haven't noticed much of a change.....though i think they make less line '0' garments now......
Checked out the new margiela store in aoyama yesterday. The clinic margiela aesthetic seemed a little out of place in the new super modern building that the new store is housed in. Also I kind of hate the building itself. Seemed very unfinished and cold. However, everything was displayed very nicely; it is nice that they have a big space to work with and don't have to cram everything into a few racks. The shop staff were ridiculously friendly and helpful, probably the best i've seen in any store here. Overall it was a wonderful experience. I purchased a wallet.
Latest Japanese based store opened recently (November) in Omotesando, Toyko.
-- this would make it the 7th in the whole of Japan, yes?
I think they gave away commemorative MMM Rubik's Cubes @ the boutique opening.
The store looks typically clinical in every sense of the word.
