As for the Thom and Rick comparison, I meant it more in the sense that because their aesthetics are so different that both of them seek a different kind of validation. When you hear Rick in interviews, he always seems funny and kind of cooky... Sometimes I get the feeling he's trying to downplay the poetry of his own work, which probably isn't true. On the other hand, Thom always feels like he needs to put out some kind of artistic validation. Just thoughts.
