My friend just gave me his membership card which lets me skip the line, so now I really don't have a choice.

i am arriving in new york in saturday night and would like to go sunday. i am not that familiar with the insanity of the line so what time should i get there if i dont want to wait for hours?

Yeah, I showed up at 9:30 which I thought was the opening and there was a two hour line. Had a membership card to use though so managed to skip the line - show is definitely completely amazing.

i went at the opening and the line was wrapped around the top of the met. i asked the security guard and he said at least 2.5 - 3 hours and being here with a few deadlines i didnt have time to wait that long. i may just go today and pay the $50

i wound up going monday and paying the $50 & it was worth every dollar. absolutely stunning!

Split it with a few people! I think the one member can bring like five guests and you can all skip the line (splitting it six ways is actually cheaper than the suggested donation and that way you get a year-long membership out of it as well).

Just read that taking the exhibition to the V&A in London is under discussion... Most likely happening too! Can't wait!
