i've played with the idea of making a collection of velvet togas for this particular quote.

It was interesting to see how "conventional" some of the pieces were - it echoed the way his womenswear's started to transform into something more at peace with the past, and also the shift towards some kind of reconnection between 21st century design and history. Wasn't as swept away as usual - which isn't necessarily a bad thing!! But it definitely made me think . . .

The odd thing about this collection is that I have a hard time imagining Rick wearing any of it himself. When he came out wearing the old silhouette at the end it felt exactly like what he mentioned once, about designers coming out in t-shirts and jeans at the end of a show.

I have seen him wearing the new boots, but I don't see him wearing a skirt.

Yeah, Avout makes a good point-Rick would look pretty funny in one of the especially Raf-tastic looks even without the gelled Kraftwerk man-machine hair.

But (as many have said) I still think there is plenty of "Rick Owens" in this collection after getting over my initial shock. It would be one thing if this were a permanent change for Rick but I am looking at this as just a palate cleanser of sorts.
