    Uncle Fester?

While I appreciate the theatricality of it all, let me just say for the record that I am not buying any of this, nor do I want to look like an escapee from the Addams Family Circus, in case anyone had any doubts! [85]

      Batshit fucking insane.

Thom Browne is officially the Gareth Pugh of vintage americana.

I'd love to see a video of this affair.

Thom is just on a whole 'nother level. Like some whacked out Americana circus, freak show but with fit young models. His shows are always so fun to look at but yea....his shit is far too expensive to 'have fun' with the look.

P.S. This collection is better viewed under the influence of mind altering drugs.

as I said in another forum. So fun to look at, but it kind of annoys me at how irrelevant this shit is in my opinion in terms of menswear. But do your thing.

Could you explain what you mean by this? There's a lot of ways to read into it and I'd be interested to hear your opinions a little more... clear, I think is the word I'm looking for.

I understand the theatrics of a show, but there's just something about all of this that bugs me. I think it's bad enough that he's so expensive, but to send stuff like this that will either never be produced and/or completely unwearable makes it, in my opinion, irrelevant. While I'm sure the stuff that reaches the store won't be this extreme (and will most likely just consist of the same stuff he's been doing since he started), I just never liked the idea of such extremity down the runway (this include couture shows)

              I hope that makes sense.

Makes perfect sense. In the sea of pure commercialism that is NY fashion week though, I don't mind a bit of theatre. [75]

From the bit that I gleaned from the Refinery29 video, TB thinks of the shows as entertainment...so the superficiality and irrelevance is hardly a surprise. I wish he would be more interesting though--this isn't going to be novel or engaging for much longer...[76]

Cathy Horyn said it pretty well on her blog:

Browne?s show made me laugh. I kept thinking ?Dumb and Dumber,?
especially when two guys came out sharing a trouser leg and wearing a
straight face. There was a fellow in a gray feather suit, too. What can
I say? Sometimes I think that Browne just goes around and around,
really not breaking out of the tasks or fascinations he has given
                himself.
A lot of the clothes are jokes, but every so often he poses
some interesting questions about tailoring and proportions.

i'm running out of creative ways of bashing tb (and I am sick, so my mind is wavering). however, does anyone else think that going for such an obvious amount of theatrics is actually SAFE? Because you know that none of this will be produced, how can you actually critique the clothes? I know I can't - there is nothing to critique.

                        you need to post height/weight.

                            I mean honestly..... what?

I would love to see how the bound up guy got onto the runway and how he got off... did he shuffle or was he carried on, left there fora few seconds then carried off?

                            This is a zombie-a-clockwork-orange-ringling fiesta!

I agree with you Faust. Since you don't know what is actually going to hit stores at all (I feel bad for the buyers at the show), this is indeed safe. The true criticism will come later when the clothes to be produced actually hits racks and people complain about how its all the same as before... which it is going to be.

I'm sure the buyers get to see the clothes in the showroom, possibly even before the presentation. I think this circus stuff is intended as pure fun...I wonder if people were laughing? The audience looks so serious...
