PUBLIC IMAGE

Something old raf / old hedi / helmut fans would like

    some really cool details..

    ss06

    - this looks a bit helmut but still cool tho

    fw 06

    ss07

    fw 07

Some edited looks from past seasons

Although i think the direction might seem derivative.. i think this looks very well executed..some looks seem better than what raf/ hedi did..
Some of these proportions look spot on..and the quality of the garments look very impressive..

And the presentation/ photography seems to be quite good here - great casting too.

I just stumbled across their website www.public-image.jp

does anyone have more info on this label?

I think you said most of what there is to say - looks like reasonable-quality variations on themes by Raf. And, like you say, the high production values make it all look quite tasty.

I feel your pain anyway: I've spent ages uploading pictures of things I think people ought to be interested in on this forum, but the regulars just drone on about leather jackets on the same old threads. Who gives a shit?

dude with such a great name you can't throw in the towel. (look ian's talking to you below you)

and its not a leather jacket forum.

you haven't been around in months and there's been tons of discussions about tons of things most of them not involving leather.

its better not to expect anything at anytime from anybody. then you are never disappointed.

i thought the photography was really minimal and lovely, but i thought that a touch too obvious to point out.

Well, the ads reminds me too much of the Dior Homme ads, it's disturbing. The lines are nice, but it's really just that at this point.

I think everything is quite nice. Love the belted jacket from FW07. Also, is it just me or do the jackets seem boxy-looking?

This is some interesting stuff - could very well fill the void that HL left. Wonder what their price points are like. thanks for posting ndf!

I must say I didn't see this (or probably take notice of it) when I was in Japan last month - would have been good to see this in person.

been following them for a while now... hard to get their stuff though. at retail its kind of expensive, and as soon as it hits a consignment shop - it's GONE. i tried to robocop some of their boots (used) but my proxy was a bit too slow.

the details are very raf/hl ... i like em a lot.

Seems like imitation as the sincerest form of flattery is running rampant through japan. might get tired of this before long...

Id like to look at labels like these purely from a customers point of view...

Im more of a details and construction person really..i dont buy stuff for the designers name or ethos' sake..

if i like the clothes i would buy them regardless of it being thrift store or mass market..it just has to suit my look.

I know it can get a little stale if ur judging it on the basis of originality, but if you look at things objectively

raf has borrowed a LOT from Helmut and hedi borrowed a shitload from raf and helmut. Im strictly talking details here.

they obviously infused it with their own aesthetic....most designers today seem to be offering a combination of styles

influenced by other designers to create something new....look at damir doma for instance..
I think I pretty much agree with this. Between designers being inspired by other designers, and even by their own past work, innovation (if there is such a thing) is a difficult thing to discern these days. I think you have to go from the details and the execution of the idea in the garments (which can be great, even if it's inspired). And these look like good clothes to me. [Y]

Do you like Ute Ploier, ndf? Because the conversation in that thread is def. related to what you are saying here....

...I mean the ephemeral, the fugitive, the contingent, the half of art whose other half is the eternal and the immutable.
