God I hate this kind of pretense fashion writing. Who the fuck had this idea that replacing perfectly fine words with made-up french nonsense makes you sound sooo much more sophisticated and intelligent? Upper-class-pearl-clad rubbish. What, saying degraded/distorted/distressed is too dirty for you Sarah? Then what on earth are you doing reviewing this collection? .

I thought degrade in this context meant gradually discoloured, or a graded shading. not that easy to describe in English. an odd subject for class warriorism, n'est pas?

You can see this annoying new term in all kinds of context now. What's wrong with 'gradation/gradated'? Odd, you're right. But somehow that's how I pictured her, writing this stuff.
