He presents a fashion show for Prince Philippe and Princess Mathilde on the Belgian Gala Night during an economic mission in Warshaw (Poland).
Further Tim Van Steenbergen exposes four haute couture dresses within the project "Framed", in The Groeninge Museum in Brugge and at the occasion of the motion pictures festival in Cannes. Philosophy
The challenge in my work is the search for authenticity and artisanship in fashion.
The difference between confection and prêt-à-porter or couture is to be found in how it is made.
Handwork, quality of fabric, building a piece layer by layer, differentiates my work from confection.
I’m in search of old values in a new world.
The motivation in my work is to transfer craftsmanship and the old values into different and modern designs.
Due to my belief in artisanship, every garment is created by hand on the dummy to develop its characteristic shape.
These traditional construction process and unique draping techniques guarantee a high appreciated quality and an exclusive collection.
Studio Tim Van Steenbergen
The atelier of Tim Van Steenbergen is located in an old sewing factory in the Antwerp suburbs. During the 60ies the building was the atelier of a traditional couture label that designed and produced every garment in that factory due to an established textile industry in Flanders. The atelier was completely furnished with different kinds of machines needed for the various production processes. The offices and the showroom were located in the front house.
Today, the atelier is still maintained like it was years ago and it reflects the history and the philosophy Tim believes in when creating his designs.
The studio Tim Van Steenbergen is the optimal place to realise his ideas, situated in the pocketsize metropolis Antwerp.
This refreshingly cosmopolitan owes its reputation to the mighty port, the world diamond centre and its trendsetting vision of fashion.
This welcoming multicultural city-on-the-river the Scheld, is an intelligent, complex, fascinating and surprising habitat with a magnificent contemporary architecture, opera and theatre, monuments and artworks as well as its historical medieval centre.
The home of the Flemish Baroque master Rubens.
The Red Star line company set off its ships on the transatlantic voyage with millions of emigrants who set out for a new life in the States and Canada.
Nowadays Antwerp is one of the fastest growing cultural cruise destinations in Europe.
Due to its excellent access it pushes you to travel the world looking for new impressions and personal experiences.
After all it is an attractive place to come home from where you can work independently and with an open minded view on the rest of the world.Last edited by mumma; 06-22-2009, 11:54 AM.LOUPEON — archival fashion project.

Thank you very much, muuma. This is all really beautiful and fresh. Thanks for diversifying SZ. More like this please (even if I am the only one replying).Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months - Oscar Wilde

I didn't see this. Everything looks pretty good on browsing. In a rush, but Mumma, let me echo Faust and thank you. Where is this designer based? An artist is not paid for his labor, but for his vision. - James Whistler

faust, you are welcome. his stuff is really amazing, actually don't
know why not so popular around... but have seen only his
women's' wear in person which was truly beautiful - there
is a shop with fantastic clothes just 15 meters from my flat,
called nachbarin - they stock preen, van steenberger, clergerie,
leroy, and so, basically stuff i would wear if i wear a women,
haha.
his aesthetic reminds me of ann demeuelmeester/
kostas murkudis/ dirk schonberger/ af vandevorst,
but every piece somehow lives its own life - don't see
so well done deconstruction stuff based on classics, and his
detailing is from different world. yeah, for me one of the
best collections for upcoming winter. but as far as i
remember it's expensive as hell ;-)LOUPEON — archival fashion project.

His menswear will be at Tranoi in Paris as part of the Showroom Antwerp. I will definitely check it out. And yes, for any fan of Belgian design, it's pretty obvious (no offence, SR!).Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months - Oscar Wilde
