The japanese sink further and further into their need to escape reality. teehee. This stuff is really fun and charming in its way, but I wouldn't wear any of it. I greatly appreciate the unrestrained nature of it. Beyond that....

there is clearly some creativity there but its soooo childish i just hate it.
even the models look embarassed.dying and coming back gives you considerable perspective

I don't know what to say. I do not think I hate it, since it appears to be coherent and even pretty successful - if overgrown childs garments is what it's suppose to evoke. There's something monstrous and disturbing in it that reminds me of the giant stuffed toys in Akira. I can imagine the kind of popcorn movie where those outfits would be perfect for a street gang of teenage junkies - just give one of those guys a baseball bat and you'll see what I mean.
But out of a screen and in any real situation other than those implying cosplaying - whatever the reason :) - well... let's try to keep an open mind, heh ?I can see a hat, I can see a cat,
I can see a man with a baseball bat.

very creepy, but kind of entertaining to look at. I think clowns are scarier than death itself, though. this makes me think of a pedophile dressing up as it's victim, playing hide and seek in a suburban house.. or something along those lines.

this is a moot point. although the individual contributors of the forum have distinct, varying aesthetics (aside from a few issues of dick sneak & crotchflap recurrence), the common thread amongst the majority tends to be assertion of self as part of that aesthetic. levity and experimentation have their place, but is not what ..the majority of sz's contributors, if not the spirit of the forum in general, are about. i can't speak for the latter, only what i can gather from the former.
so what does wearing this tell of breadth in one's aesthetic horizons? does wearing blue-collar work-wear? does wearing casette playa & bernhard willhelm? these are very different things and their meaning is entirely personal.
tl;dr version: what you clearly implied made no sense. where is my black beach raf blanket.
what does broadening one's horizons have to do with appreciating that which one isn't normally drawn to?

i don't know, i find it more interesting to consider that there is a big market for these kinds of clothes in Japan, just check out dropsnap.jp.
sure, it plays straight to the FRUiTS stereotype and there aren't as many of them today as say, 15 years ago, but most girls that wear this aren't just playing fashion either, this sense of 'kawaii' is engrained in their entire lifestyle. to me the more interesting question is why..
let us raise a toast to ancient cotton, rotten voile, gloomy silk, slick carf, decayed goat, inflamed ram, sooty nelton, stifling silk, lazy sheep, bone-dry broad & skinny baffalo.
