    Dries Van Noten f/w 09-10

After seeing Francis Bacon at the Met yesterday, I had to post this.

There's something quite interesting and intriguing about how well pastels are incorporated with strong colors like maroon, violet and orange.

For some reason the color palette is reminiscent of the 50's..to me at least.

I just saw the collection in stores today in antwerp. the fabrics are amazing. Really it comes to life when you see it in real life. I think the shoes are also worth mentioning.

It's beautiful, as always. Really beautiful. Just beautiful. Laika, the color palette reminded you of Baconaise?

Yes, the flat surfaces of colour in Bacon's work is
very reminiscent of Noten's palette here.

                      ^Thanks for that.

I like this collection and am particullary attracted by the jackets/coats, the colors make the fabrics look so much richer, and overall I really appreciate the polished work of Dries.

It's a nice continuation from SS wich I loved, the shoes are remarkable as North said, quite appropiate, and a nice alternative for all the other designers offerings.

I also love the sunglasses...most Linda Farrow colabs are great.

What's pretty bold with this collection is how he bisected his model's bodies by using very different colours and fabrics. It does remind me of a brightly coloured animation cell or other forms of drawing where shading isn't much in use.
